Ifølge New York Times planlegger Facebook å lansere en ny og vesentlig raskere versjon av deres populære applikasjon neste måned.

Dagens Facebook-applikasjon er egentlig en webapplikasjon pakket inn i en iOS-applikasjon. Dette er en av årsakene til applikasjonen ikke er så rask som «vanlige» iOS-applikasjoner. Årsaken til at Facebook har laget en webapplikasjon pakket inn i en iOS-app er for å prøve å standardisere utviklingen på tvers av plattformer.

Ifølge New York Times vil Facebook droppe webapplikasjonen og gjøre om sin applikasjon til en ordentlig Objective-C applikasjon. Dette skal ifølge kildene til New York Times gi oss en vesentlig raskere applikasjon.

Applikasjonen skal lanseres neste måned, men vil ikke gi oss noen nye funksjoner eller nytt grensesnitt - kun hastighetsøkning og DET er etterlengtet.

Endelig, kanskje jeg skal gidde å installere den appen. På min HTC ble facebook tregere for hver oppgradering, installerte en eldgammel version og da ble fb brukbart igjen.
